Creature Of the Night

Katie Fogarty
Photographed by Kai Z. Feng
Vogue Australia September 2011

Wow! That was my reaction when I came across this editorial on Fashion Gone Rogue this morning. May I add that I was in a law lecture at the time & I'm quite sure the lecturer could tell that I was more adsorbed in whatever I was looking at on my Mac rather than the words rolling out of his mouth. This ed is everything I love - chic black ensembles, LBDs, lace, sheer panels, pretty pink lips & cat-like grey smoky eyes. The Australians glossies have definitely turned it up a notch in terms of delivering excellent editorials of late. Can't wait to grab a copy of the September issue when it goes on sale tomorrow morning!

The Woman in Red

Nadia Serlidou
Photographed by Koray Birand
Harper's Bazaar Turkey June 2011

I've probably said it before - I'm obsessed with the colour red! I probably didn't even realise at first. Then one day I thought about it - Red car, laptop case, iphone case, several lipsticks, coffee mugs, stationery and a general collection of red bits & bobs. For some reason I don't tend to wear red clothes... perhaps out of fear of looking like Santa's little helper. I just got off the phone to my dear friend Sam who was deciding on what colour to paint her nails. Sure, it's not a ground breaking decision but sometimes it's that little bit of colour, especially on a cold Winter's day like today, that can give you a little lift. My current fashion mission - to mix some red into my black ensembles. And I'm thinking red may be the colour of choice for my next frock purchase :) As for this editorial - the Turkey publications seem to  be turning out some fantastic fashion shoots of late. Gorgeous styling & location I say.

Behati Prinsloo in Vogue Turkey

My fav shot - love love love the Celine shoes & bag!!!

Isn't Behati just stunning? She looks fab in this editorial appearing in Vogue Turkey which I have noticed has some of the most amazing fashion editorials of late. I love all the colour blocking in the shoot, particularly the red Celine bag and Pierre Hardy wedge shoes. Behati's voluminous hair style is so chic too.

Colour Fiesta

Vogue Australia March 2011

The title "Colour Fiesta" sums this shoot up perfectly. Despite being a person who has a wardrobe which is largely made up of black, this shoot has inspired me to inject some serious colour into my wardrobe. Further, it has confirmed that I simply must buy a red lipstick with an orange hue! Nicole Bentley is a fabulous photographer. Her photos always have a softness about them, uncommon to high fashion editorials.

Fur, feathers & fabulously fashionable

 Kristine Drinke
Photographed Jonas Bresnan
Black Magazine #13 Fall/Winter 2010

Grace Gao & So Young Kang
Photographed Tiaziano Magni
Numero China #5 Jan/Feb 2011

I don't know what it is but in Summer I'm yearning for fur coats and boots, and in Winter I'm obsessing over kaftans and swimsuits. So right now in the middle of Summer I'm getting all excited about my wardrobe. I've loved fur since I was a small child and nothing has changed - I have quite a collection both real and faux. Last year my Mum bought me a fabulous grey feather coat which I'll be excited to wear as the cooler months approach. I love the glamour & detail that comes with Winter dressing - coats with cute buttons, long gloves, to die for boots etc. The fashion world seems to have gone into a fur & feather frenzy, showcasing the two in the one editorial, like these in Black Magazine & Numero China.

Happily Ever After - Anna Hathaway

Anne Hathaway
Vogue US November 2010
Photographed by Mario Testino
Styled by Tonne Goodman
Fashion Gone Rogue

Anne Hathaway is an incredibly sophisticated, yet down-to-earth actress. Her style resembles that of old Hollywood glamour. She has come such a long way since her role in the Princess Diaries. My favourite movie of hers is the Devil Wears Prada. I'd kill to the wear that wardrobe! She is naturally exquisite and isn't your average bleached blonde, fake-tanned Hollywood star. This shoot suits her wonderfully, dressed in Isaac Mizrahi, Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera. Mario Testino can do no wrong. My favourite shot are last shot with the Dalmatian dog, and the 2nd last where she is decked out in diamonds - very Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's the perfect shoot to brighten up my gloomy Sydney day!
