I've had a leopard print obsession since I was about 9. I remember being in year 4 and wanting anything & everything possible in leopard print. I had the belt, scarf, jacket, gloves, hat, bag, diary, pencil case... you get the idea! Everything had to be covered in those black & brown spots. In fact, I still have the leopard coat, belt & scarf and still wear them from time to time & am always adding a few more pieces to my collection. I wore the scarf last night! Just like the saying that a leopard never changes its spots, I think it safe to say that leopard always seems to be present in fashion. As with most things, worn wrong it can look incredibly trashy, but worn right it can do wonders - give an almost all black ensemble a focus, bring some edge, or simply make an outfit more fun.

P.S. I only support faux leopard fur - Leopards are beautiful, rare creatures that shouldn't be hunted. They are such amazing animals.

The Woman in Red

Harper's Bazaar Turkey June 2011

I've probably said it before - I'm obsessed with the colour red! I probably didn't even realise at first. Then one day I thought about it - Red car, laptop case, iphone case, several lipsticks, coffee mugs, stationery and a general collection of red bits & bobs. For some reason I don't tend to wear red clothes... perhaps out of fear of looking like Santa's little helper. I just got off the phone to my dear friend Sam who was deciding on what colour to paint her nails. Sure, it's not a ground breaking decision but sometimes it's that little bit of colour, especially on a cold Winter's day like today, that can give you a little lift. My current fashion mission - to mix some red into my black ensembles. And I'm thinking red may be the colour of choice for my next frock purchase :) As for this editorial - the Turkey publications seem to  be turning out some fantastic fashion shoots of late. Gorgeous styling & location I say.

Winter Wonderland

Today was the first day of Winter for us Australians. It's not quite like the Northern Hemisphere Winter but believe it or not we do actually get snow in some parts of Australia. Unfortunately, we don't in Sydney but they do in the Blue Mountains in the really cool winters, which is only about 2 hours west of Sydney. I personally love Winter - the boots, scarfs, woollen coats, fur, hot chocolate with marshmallows, homemade soup and rugging-up by a heater or fire. I don't think I'll be hitting the slopes this year but I would sure love to. Even though I went snowboarding year after year at Perisher (one of the Australian snowfield),  and have been to Europe, America & Canada in the Winter, I still get extremely excited whenever I see snow! I especially love a white Christmas and the magical atmosphere that comes with it. Everything just looks so beautiful covered in fresh white flakes of snow :)

Oh I get so excited about rugging-up in fur whether real or faux!

Sure the traditional winter fur boots & knit sweater may be a little kitsch but I can't help love them :)
